Hugo is what happens when programmers want to create static websites

It uses standard programming principles of writing code, compiling it and using git for source control.

The code is markdown format and the Hugo process is the compiler

You build the files in a directory, and Hugo will create the website, do image processing, menus and all the page HTML for you
